The Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology Physiotherapy at BVVS College of Physiotherapy focuses on the specialized rehabilitation needs of women during various stages of life — from antenatal and postnatal care to management of gynaecological, urogynecological, and pelvic floor dysfunctions.

🏥 Clinical Training
Students undergo clinical postings in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at S. Nijalingappa Medical College & HSK Hospital and Research Centre.
Training emphasizes the application of physiotherapy techniques to enhance women’s physical and emotional health.
Clinical exposure includes:
- Antenatal and Postnatal Physiotherapy in wards and OPD.
- Labor preparation and relaxation techniques.
- Post-surgical rehabilitation following C-section and hysterectomy.
- Pelvic floor muscle retraining and core strengthening.
- Counseling on posture, ergonomics, and home exercise programs.
Students are guided by experienced faculty to ensure sensitivity, professionalism, and competence in patient care.

The Women’s Health Physiotherapy Unit provides comprehensive rehabilitation services for women during pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and in gynaecological conditions.
Therapeutic focus is on improving strength, posture, and confidence while reducing pain and dysfunction.
🛏️ Inpatient Services
Physiotherapy services are provided for women admitted in obstetrics and gynaecology wards.
Services include:
- Pre-delivery breathing and relaxation training.
- Postnatal exercises to improve pelvic floor and core strength.
- Pain management following delivery or surgery.
- Mobilization and recovery after C-section or hysterectomy.
- Guidance for ergonomic breastfeeding and posture correction.
🚪 Outpatient Services
Outpatient care includes assessment and management of chronic women’s health conditions.
Services include:
- Management of urinary and fecal incontinence.
- Treatment of pelvic organ prolapse.
- Therapy for chronic pelvic pain and dyspareunia.
- Antenatal and postnatal exercise classes.
- Obesity management and fitness programs for women.
Modalities used:
- Biofeedback and electrical stimulation for pelvic floor training.
- Heat and electrotherapy for pain relief.
- Exercise therapy using stability balls and resistance bands.

Monday to Saturday: 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Sunday & Public Holidays: Closed
